On the right is text in white that reads California Association for Postsecondary Education and Disability<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.caped.io\/\"> California Association for Postsecondary Education and Disability (CAPED)<\/a> is excited to partner with the Disability Visibility Project\u00ae with this call for stories for the CAPED community.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The CAPED storytelling campaign will start on April 23rd and end on <strong>September 30, 2018.<\/strong> All you need is a smartphone or a laptop with a program that can record audio. Details below.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is an opportunity to capture the advocacy and work of CAPED members and the post-secondary educational experiences of students with disabilities. Short audio clips from some of these stories (including text transcripts) will be presented at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.caped.io\/2018-caped-convention\/\">2018 CAPED convention<\/a> in October.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We encourage educators, administrators, faculty, staff, and students to share their stories centered on the experiences students with disabilities. Consider interviewing a colleague or student, or telling your own story using the StoryCorps app. The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/disabilityvisibilityproject.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Disability Visibility Project\u00ae<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a community partnership with StoryCorps and an online community dedicated to creating, sharing, and amplifying disability media and culture. <\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>How to Participate<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All you need is a smartphone or a laptop with a program that can record audio. Here\u2019s how to get started:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Decide whether you want to tell your story by yourself or if you would like to have a conversation with another person.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Set up a time to chat and prepare questions or keep it loose. Have fun! It\u2019s up to you on what you want to talk about but here are a few suggested topics:\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Emergent issues facing schools and students with disabilities in California<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Diverse student populations (e.g., veterans, LGBTQIA, students of color, undocumented students)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Inequality and ableism in post-secondary institutions<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accessibility on campus<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Challenges and barriers faced by students with disabilities<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Disability pride and identity<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Transitioning into employment after post-secondary education (e.g. challenges faced, best practices, success stories)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accommodations process: best practices and problems<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Assistive technology <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Service provision<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Building trust and respect with students<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">History of CAPED and CAPED today as an organization<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">3. If you have a smartphone, download the StoryCorps app from <a style=\"font-size: 1rem;\" href=\"https:\/\/storycorps.org\/participate\/storycorps-app\/\">iTunes or Google Play<\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Follow the guidelines on using the StoryCorps app for the Disability Visibility Project\u00ae here: <\/span><a style=\"font-size: 1rem;\" href=\"https:\/\/disabilityvisibilityproject.com\/how-to-participate\/oral-histories-with-the-storycorps-app\/\">https:\/\/disabilityvisibilityproject.com\/how-to-participate\/oral-histories-with-the-storycorps-app\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">4. If you don\u2019t have a smartphone, open a StoryCorps account from your computer: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.storycorps.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">https:\/\/archive.storycorps.org\/<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. You will be able to upload an audio file manually. You should also use the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/disabilityvisibilityproject.com\/how-to-participate\/oral-histories-with-the-storycorps-app\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">guidelines from the DVP<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. When you record your story you will need to use a program on your computer that can record audio such as <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.apple.com\/mac\/garageband\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">GarageBand<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/store\/p\/windows-voice-recorder\/9wzdncrfhwkn\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Windows Voice Recorder<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or something free you can download such as <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.audacityteam.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Audacity<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">5.
