Believe Disabled People. Period.<\/b><\/span><\/h4>\n

July 26, 2018 is the 28th anniversary of the ADA! To mark this occasion, the DVP has new merch for sale. This campaign came out of the\u00a0Great Plastic Straw Debate of 2018<\/a>\u00a0with many cities and corporations announcing the bans of plastic straws in favor of biodegradable or reusable ones. Many in the disability community shared online and in print why this will harm them with detailed explanations and stories. I wrote\u00a0an essay for Eater.com<\/a> about accessibility, hospitality, and the straw ban and included this sentence, “Believe disabled people. Period.” This is a basic guiding principle that applies to practically every situation.\u00a0I hope it becomes a conversation starter (in a good way) if you wear it. All proceeds will support the work of the Disability Visibility Project\u00ae. Enjoy!<\/p>\n
