In partnership, the Disability Organizing (DO) Network, <\/span>Disability Action Coalition, and <\/span>the Disability Visibility Project\u00ae will host a Twitter chat on disability advocacy with public officials on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, 3-4 pm Pacific<\/strong>. While all participants are welcome, we will focus on disability advocacy in California. We want to hear about your advocacy efforts and the tactics you use with your public officials at the local, state, and federal level.<\/span><\/p>\n

About<\/b><\/h4>\n

The <\/span>Disability Organizing (DO) Network <\/b>is a program of The California Foundation for Independent Living Center (<\/span>CFILC<\/span><\/a>)<\/span>. The DO Network is a statewide disability advocacy network of 28 Independent Living Centers and the communities they serve. Most ILC\u2019s have a full time staff person devoted to increasing civic participation through community organizing, education and advocacy around issues that affect the Disability Communities.<\/span><\/p>\n

California\u2019s Disability Action Coalition (DAC)<\/strong> is the only statewide cross-disability multi-issue coalition that is made up of people with all types of disabilities, disability-run organizations, and allies. Our mission is to organize people with disabilities and allies to protect and advance our civil rights, self-determination and life opportunities. We pursue our mission through education, community building, and advocacy \u2013 which culminates in an annual day of Disability community action at the Capitol.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the time of the chat, click on the \u2018Latest\u2019 tab for the hashtag #DOnetwork. This will show you the questions and everyone\u2019s responses in real time.<\/span><\/p>\n
