Happy New Year! Better late than never, am I right? 2021 was SOME year. Too many expletives cannot adequately express my frustration and concern right now. I hope you are finding joy and comfort however and whenever you can. Below are some personal and professional highlights as the Disability Visibility Project continues to tell stories and amplify disability culture.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

May we all manifest everything we want this year and move beyond survival (although that is a feat in itself).\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Co-organized <\/span>Disability + Pleasure Activism event<\/span><\/a> in January with Integrated Community Services, a conversation with Claudia Alick and adrienne maree brown.<\/span><\/p>\n

Created some <\/span>vaccine valentines<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>vaccine equity memes<\/span><\/a> in February.<\/span><\/p>\n

Collected stories, resources, and Tweets by high-risk people in California<\/span><\/a> about vaccine equity in early 2021.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ended the <\/span>Disability Visibility podcast<\/span><\/a> with <\/span>episode 100<\/span><\/a> in April.<\/span><\/p>\n

Turned in my manuscript for <\/span>Year of the Tiger<\/span><\/i><\/a>, my memoir which will come out fall\/winter 2022.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Co-edited <\/span>The Access Issue<\/span><\/i><\/a> with Evette Dionne featuring work by disabled writers and artists.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Through the <\/span>Disability Visibility substack<\/span><\/a> (a free newsletter), I gave away 184 books by disabled, chronically ill, Mad, d\/Deaf writers.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Co-organized with Sandy Ho of the Disability & Intersectionality Summit <\/span>a series of online events<\/span><\/a> on the life and work of Fannie Lou Hamer centered on book by Dr. Keisha N. Blain, <\/span>Until I Am Free: Fannie Lou Hamer’s Enduring Message to America<\/span><\/i><\/a>, available now from Beacon Press.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
